Swathe Fabric Gift Wrap is a reusable gift wrap brand and online store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our swathes(meaning “to wrap”) are handmade using upcycled & recycled materials. We use upcycled excess fabric from an outstanding partnership with another local Milwaukee company – children’s clothing retailer, Florence Eiseman – who shares our focus on sustainability to create less production waste. We use RENEWRibbon, which is made of REPREVE fibers created from recycled plastic bottles.
Swathes come in three sizes and many vibrant, versatile patterns and colors to meet any gifting needs. They are uniquely designed to be form-fitting, so they can wrap any present from a gift box to a candle to a t-shirt, even an oddly shaped toy. In four easy steps, with no extra supplies needed – so no scissors or tape – a customer can present a beautifully wrapped gift in a gift to a healthier planet. They are durable and meant to be used again and again, sometimes given as part of the gift and other times they might stay within the same family or friend group for years.
At Swathe, we hope to inspire people to rethink how they present gifts by creating less waste to reduce the huge amount of wrapping paper and materials that end up in the landfill with every birthday, holiday, and special celebration. Changing consumer attitudes and behaviors around gifting is vital, especially given that most traditional wrapping paper – due to the ink, tape, and plastic lining – is not recyclable.
