La Maisonnée is a solidarity community grocery store for the entire population of Lac-St-Jean-Est, Québec. We carry over 800 products in-store, including more than 230 bulk products in our L’Espace VRRAC section, and more than 185 quality fresh products, including vegetables, fruits, dairy products, prepared meals, and more!
We believe that accessibility to quality and diversified foods should not be a constraint on healthy eating. That’s why we offer two prices for our products: a solidarity price & a household price, so that low-income people can have access to quality food at a lower cost.
However, please note that our grocery store is not just for low-income people, it’s for all people, regardless of income, in Lac-St-Jean-Est! By purchasing your food at La Maisonnée you help disadvantaged people in our community to get their supplies at a lower cost.
This is accomplished by setting the solidarity price for those whose financial situation is sufficient to meet their needs at the price of the product offered in the supermarket. This then allows us to set the household price at less than the price of the product offered in the supermarket to make it possible for those in precarious situations to benefit from quality foods. L’Espace VRRAC
At La Maisonnée you can find a bulk section, L’Espace VRRAC, where you can buy the exact quantity of food you need. This helps to limit food waste, as well as to reduce packaging waste, as you are encouraged to bring your own containers. L’Espace VRRAC was set up by the Réseau Régional en Alimentation Communautaire (RRAC) with the aim of making available to members a range of quality food at a low cost.
In our bulk section, we carry bulk foods such as spices, teas, coffee beans, flours, nuts, and so much more! We also have a selection of bulk household & personal care products including laundry detergent, cleaners, shampoo, conditioner, and more.
A member of our team will serve you what you need in your own clean containers or in paper bags if needed. Please note that for the sake of ecology, the bags will be charged at a cost of $0.25 each to promote bringing your own containers.
