Located in the heart of Musquodoboit Harbour, Uprooted Market & Café is here for all of your favourite fresh local market & café goods. Our goal is to improve the accessibility of local and sustainable food options for the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. We sell locally grown and produced goods, including fruits and vegetables, free-run eggs, environmentally friendly cleaning products and much more. Our café offers healthy lunch options including soups, salads and sandwiches, we serve Laughing Whale’s fair trade organic coffee and espresso from Lunenburg, and Tea Brewery loose teas from Mahone Bay.
In addition to improving the accessibility to local and sustainable food options, Uprooted Market & Café is also committed to the environment. We buy locally and employ locally as well, we sell ethically raised meat, and we work to reduce food and plastic waste. To reduce food waste we redirect food scraps by donating them for compost and animal feed.
To reduce plastic waste we refuse to sell bottled water and encourage people to bring your own personal water bottles to fill at Uprooted as our tap water is great for drinking. When purchasing food or drinks from our café, bring your own travel mug and takeout containers for a $0.25 discount. In our market you’ll find refill stations for Goodmore Kombucha and Down East Cleaning Products. Simply bring your own growler and containers for refills of kombucha, laundry detergent, and dishwashing liquid.
