Suppli is a reusable plastic-free takeout container service that partners with restaurants and food shops in Toronto, Ontario, to provide eco-friendly alternatives to current single-use options. We are a proud member of the circular economy and we believe that together we can make single-use takeout containers a thing of the past. Our mission is to help consumers live their values and to support businesses to operate more sustainably.
Consumers can subscribe for free to our service, and can ask our participating restaurants & food shops to package their takeout food in our containers. We look after the pick-up of containers at homes/offices, and are proud to partner with a proven professional cleaning service that looks after sanitization of our containers. At the end of their long lives, we send our containers to an amazing company, TerraCycle, that recycles all the stainless steel and down-cycles the silicone lids from our containers.
How It Works
Step 1) Sign up and create an account for free! We simply charge a small amount ($0.99) per order (not even per container) to help cover our costs.
Step 2) Order takeout from one of our participating restaurants or food shops in one of two ways:
- Walk-in/Call-in orders: When ordering, let the restaurant know you have a Suppli account and would like to use our containers. Provide them with the phone number that’s attached to your Suppli account and you’re all set!
- Online orders: When ordering from the restaurant’s website or a third-party delivery service (e.g., UberEats, Skip the Dishes, DoorDash, or Ritual) select Suppli containers from the menu when adding items to your cart. Then, enter the phone number that’s attached to your Suppli account in any of the notes/comments sections of the online ordering platform.
IMPORTANT: While online order apps ask for your phone number upon signing up, this information unfortunately isn’t passed along to restaurants. So please ensure to include your phone number with any online orders!
Step 3) Rinse & Return – once you’ve enjoyed your meal, rinse out your containers and drop them off at one of our local drop-off points. Scan the QR code at the drop-off point to confirm your containers have been returned. Some of our partner restaurants & food shops have drop-off bins; however, we have many more drop-off bins on porches and in other cafes throughout Toronto. Go to our website to view a map of all of our container drop-off points.
