Épicerie Communautaire Le Garde-Manger - L'Espace VRRAC

Le Garde-Manger is a non-profit community grocery store in the municipality of Maria-Chapdelaine, Québec. Our store is designed to meet the needs of people living in extreme poverty, by offering low cost food to the people of Maria-Chapdelaine, including St-Ludger de Milot.

Similar to small neighborhood grocery stores, we sell basic food products, fresh fruit & vegetables, and more! We also have a wide selection of bulk products, including bulk food, personal hygiene and household cleaning products.

Our grocery store is geared toward low-income families, who, once they become a member, will be able to purchase all the products in our store at low costs. However, in order to contribute to the project, solidarity customers—those not low-income—have access only to our Espace VRRAC bulk products, and at an increased price too. This allows low-income members to have access to fresh & healthy products in bulk.

L’Espace VRRAC

At Le Garde-Manger you can find a bulk section, L’Espace VRRAC, an initiative in collaboration with the Réseau Régional en Alimentation Communautaire (RRAC) where you can buy the exact quantity of food you need. This helps to limit food waste, as well as to reduce packaging waste, as you are encouraged to bring your own containers.

The bulk food products you can find at our store include: cereals, rice, legumes, noodles, broths, flour, sugar and other items. As well, we carry bulk household cleaning & personal hygiene products too.
