Basic Goods is a marketplace located in downtown Iowa City where consumers have access to the best clean, sustainable, and inclusive brands for self and home. Our goal is to provide more accessible means for everyone to live a sustainable and healthy life. Therefore, one of our biggest commitments is inclusivity. Pro-planet. Pro-you!
To ensure inclusivity Basic Goods sources products that are suitable for all genders and skin types; products that are created by brands that give back and support social justice and equity; products that are created by BIPOC-owned brands; and products that are created by LGBTQ+ owned brands.
To ensure sustainability we source products that meet a combination of criteria, such as having multiple uses and/or functions, being plastic-free, vegan, organic, and/or handcrafted, to name a few. Check out our website to see the full list of criteria that we use to choose our brands.
We also have a refill station where you can BYOC (bring your own containers) and snag zero waste, affordable, and convenient everyday household essentials, such as laundry detergent and other cleaners. No worries though if you forget your containers or don’t have any yet, we have some available for purchase too.
