Located in the Alamitos Bay Marina, the Algalita Marine Research and Education Centre has partnered with BYO Long Beach to offer a refill station & a wide selection of alternatives to single-use plastics. Together their mission is to inspire locals to reduce their waste & to focus on refillable & reusable alternatives. Bring your own containers for refills of household cleaning & personal care products, as well as many reusable items.
In addition to housing a refillery, the team at Algalita is committed to changing our society’s plastic consumption habits by working to shift the way we think about our environmental impact. They connect young people with scientists, experts, politicians & businesses to have real conversations about plastic consumption. They also host community waterbike cleanups on the bay every month to help keep Alamitos Bay clean.
